Storing Coffee At Home

What could be better than enjoying a freshly made cup of coffee in the morning? Well of course, having an endless supply of fresh coffee. But once you open the coffee package, the staling process begins. Let's talk about different ways of storing coffee to keep it in the best possible condition.

1. Keep the coffee airtight. At Ethica Coffee Company we took it upon ourselves to ensure that our coffee is supplied in resealable bags with a degassing valve to provide the best quality coffee that can be stored for an extended period. However, if keeping coffee beans inside the bag is impossible, move it to an airtight container. Such as a plastic tub with a lid or one specifically designed for storing coffee.

2. Keep the coffee in a dark place. Sunlight rapidly accelerates the stalling of coffee. If you store your coffee beans in a clear container, put them away from the sun or keep them inside a cupboard.

3. Keep it dry. Placing coffee in the fridge DOES NOT extend its shelf life. A refrigerator is a humid environment; your coffee beans are most likely to absorb water and get cross-contamination of aromas. If you can't keep it in n airtight container, at least consider keeping it in a dry place away from sunlight.

Pretty simple rules to follow will keep your coffee fresh for much longer.

We recommend consuming coffee beans within a month, and if the coffee has been ground, consume it within two weeks.
